Virginia Wright-Johnson

Hi, I am Virginia. It is nice to meet you! I am a Professional Counselor Associate. I received my Master of Counseling in a Clinical Mental Health Counselor training program from Oregon State University in March 2024. I enjoy working with adult individuals, couples, and groups. My clients have included those experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and addiction issues. I have worked in various community and private practice settings as a counselor-in-training In addition, I have a Master of Science in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from the University of Oregon in 2010.
I chose a career in mental health because I am passionate about empowering others with applicable tools for living more meaningful lives. I operate from a collaborative strength-based perspective with an emphasis on client agency and wellness. It is a priority of mine that you feel understood, connected, and engaged in the therapeutic process with it being an effective and productive experience for you. Bottom line: You are the expert on your life. My theoretical orientations include person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapies. I am currently completing Level 1 of the Gottman Method training to better aid couples in communicating their wants, needs and goals with each other. In my down time, I am working out, developing new spoken language skill sets, and spoiling my furbabies.
