My name is Mary Jo and I have a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. The majority of my work has been with children and families, primarily in community mental health services. Thus far my work has consisted of counseling in various settings ,such as in-home, schools, day treatment and residential facilities. I have also been involved with wrap around services, as well as on call mobile crisis interventions.
I specialize in navigating the complexities of mental and behavior health in children. In my clinical setting I help children with stress management, depression, anxiety, and difficult and traumatic life events. My approach to therapy is “strength based and trauma informed”, emphasizing on cognitive behavioral therapy interventions.
I am an authentic, warm, welcoming individual where I believe in compassionate therapy. My goals are to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where children feel the freedom to explore and understand themselves. I’m hoping the children that I work with can see and understand their emotions, thus aiding them in developing coping skills, and creating self-esteem and confidence so they can thrive in the world.
I value your experience in life, and what you will bring to our therapy setting. I look forward in helping your family and child learn more effective ways of navigating life’s challenges together, and for everyone to become their best selves.
When not working I enjoy time on the McKenzie River with my husband, and two children as well as with our medical alert golden retriever Indie.
