Alexandra (Xan) Russell
Hello and welcome! My name is Alexandra but I go by Xan. I received my Master’s in Social Work from Portland State University in 2022 and have been a therapist since then.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process as I care deeply about client values and input. I adhere to person centered and trauma informed practices in my therapy style and offer a space that is free of judgement or demands. I believe in trust between client and clinician being a key factor in achieving positive outcomes in therapy.
My therapeutic style draws from various methods but I prefer to be adaptable in order to maintain a comfortable flow in the direction that is best for you. Therapy is a fluid process, not a formulaic one. I am comfortable with a wide range of therapeutic needs, including but not limited to: life transitions, self esteem, anxiety and depression, stress management, and trauma recovery. I provide individual therapy to teens and adults ages 16-55.
I utilize an anti-oppressive and intersectional lens in my therapeutic approach; recognizing the different ways in which oppressive systems can impact us as communities and individuals, particularly in marginalized communities.
I look forward to connecting with you!
